Carolina Garzon Mrad is a design strategist at the Penn Medicine Center for Health Care Innovation.
Having spent a lot of time in foreign countries, Carolina possesses a deep interest in different cultures and behaviors. Her interest in health care was sparked in graduate school when she assisted on a project at the emergency department at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania.
Carolina believes that user-centered design can improve patient outcomes and have a positive impact on diverse populations. She is especially interested in the complex relationships between health care providers, their patients and the community.
Prior to joining the Center, Carolina worked as a user experience and service designer for home automation software at Zonoff Inc. She also worked on a housing development project for low-income populations in Bangkok, Thailand as a student.
Carolina holds a master’s degree of engineering in integrated product design from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a bachelor’s degree in integrated design from the Köln International School of Design in Germany.
