Katherine Choi serves as the director for practice transformation for the Acceleration Lab at the Penn Medicine Center for Health Care Innovation. In this role, embedded within the Department of Medicine, Katherine leads efforts to redesign practice to save clinicians time, decrease work compression, and support well-being. She also has a special interest in running delight sprints to bring appreciation and engagement into the workplace.
Prior to this role, Katherine led work that leveraged new technology for care innovation within the Center. She helped design and scale web and mobile platforms that decreased morbidity and mortality in the ICU, reduced clinician burden, and enabled experimentation with real-time clinical data. She continues to help shape electronic health record (EHR) transformation efforts across the health system.
Katherine received her medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and her bachelor's degree in bioengineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Her work has been featured in the New England Journal of Medicine, NPR, and Fast Company.
