Kelley Kugler serves as an innovation manager for the Acceleration Lab at the Penn Medicine Center for Health Care Innovation.
In this role, she leads projects that improve how patients and employees experience care inside and well beyond the walls of Penn Medicine. Currently, she is focused on enhancing the wellness of Penn’s neurologists and is leading an effort to move care for psychiatric patients to a more proactive model.
Kelley is passionate about aligning the ways of medicine with the ways of life, recognizing the influence of mundane factors such as a physical residence or a morning routine to an individual’s mental health and overall well-being.
Before joining the team, Kelley was an innovation strategist with Idea Couture, a design thinking firm. She worked on teams across San Francisco, London, and New York, where she focused on smart homes, international shipping, and food retail respectively. Kelley often borrows inspiration from these communities and industries to rethink what is possible within the world of health care.
Kelley received her bachelor's degree in neuroscience and studio art from Dartmouth College. She also earned a master’s degree in the social science of the internet from the University of Oxford, where she explored how recent retirees leverage technology to help them age in place. Kelley serves as the Center’s resident yoga teacher and is part of team #foodasmedicine.
